OSRAM LED to illuminate the new landmark building in Guangzhou

OSRAM awarded major LED order in China for Guangzhou West Tower project

Recently OSRAM, a 100 percent affiliated company of Siemens, won the bidding of LED products for the façade illumination of West Tower, the new landmark building in Guangzhou and also a major supporting project for the Guangzhou mega event in 2010. Valued over 32 million RMB the order is one of the biggest LED projects for OSRAM in China with OSRAM as the exclusive lighting supplier. Early next year the illuminated West Tower is going to present the new Guangzhou city image to visitors from all over the world and become another shiny highlight in the night landscape of Guangzhou.

Featuring a slim shape and a smooth and transparent surface with its specially designed glass curtain, West Tower looks like a curved diamond-shaped crystal, standing at the central axis of Guangzhou. With a height of 432 meters it ranks the second highest in mainland China and sixth in the world.  Located at the Central Business District of Guangzhou, West Tower will become the top commercial compound in South China, integrating 6-star hotel, office building, international conference center, premium shopping mall and top restaurant.

OSRAM will be supplying over 10,000 sets of LED products to bring magic effects to the crystal glass walls of West Tower at night. With the high energy efficiency and long life-span of the LED, West Tower will set a new benchmark in green architectural lighting with low energy consumption and high cost-efficiency. According to the design, the lighting would be laid out in slant networking frame all along the whole mansion, shaping the whole diamond structure of West Tower.  The basic tone of the lighting is red, flowing from down to the top of the building.  The whole system is controlled by computer program and the LED will be adjustable to different colors, depending on the customized requirement to celebrate different festivals.
