Siemens Employees Donate Over RMB2.3 million to Assist with Earthquake Relief Efforts
Company Donation topped by Personal Employee Contributions to push up the total Siemens donation over RMB15 million
Siemens donated a significant part of its employee voluntary donation, over RMB2.3 million to the Red Cross Society of China. Siemens China announced that, to date, its employees nationwide have contributed more than RMB 5 million to aid victims of the earthquake that struck Sichuan province on May 12, 2008.
Further to the company donation of RMB 2 million made to the Red Cross Society of China on May 14, Siemens donated its employee donation of over RMB2.3 million to the Red Cross on July 11. In addition, Siemens employees sacrificed their outing incentive and collected over RMB 2.7 million to help relief the earthquake area, adding the total of employee donation to over RMB 5 million.
With the donation from the outing incentive, Siemens set up the Siemens Orphan Education Fund. The company has signed an agreement with Mianyang City to use RMB 1.04 million from this Fund to sponsor four-year college education of 20 orphans . The donation will also be used to support reconstruction of primary schools in Sichuan or Gansu Province.
