Siemens Employees' Committment on Environment Protection

In support of the company's campaign calling upon employees to "Think Green, Act Green", On the World Environment Day, June 5th of 2009,  Siemens launched an employee activity "Batteries for Bulbs" to call for actions towards environmental protection. Batches of used battaries were collected in exchange for energy saving bulbs of OSRAM, a Siemens affiliated company. More than 300kg of used batteries were collected from employees across Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. These used batteries were delievered for centrally disposal by a professional recycling company.(June 2009)

 
 

Siemens Delivers Safe Potable Water to Rural China

Siemens inaugurated its Green Village pilot project and handed over the facility to Shangba Village in Guangdong Province further to the kick-off of the program in 2007. The Siemens facility, which comprises a "Water Boy®” water purification system, will be used to deliver safe daily water to the 3,500 Shangba villagers. (February 2009)

 
 

Planting trees for a green future

Dr. Richard Hausmann, President and CEO of Siemens China planted trees today on behalf of the company at the CEO Woods on the inaugural ceremony of "Coping with Global Warming - 2008 Tree Planting Program". Jointly initiated by China Green Foundation and National Development of Reform Center, the campaign is dedicated to improving the environment against global warming. Several thousands of native species trees are planted at the Yongding Riverside, Mengtougou District in Beijing. Committed to environmental care and energy efficiency, Siemens has become one of the foreign companies in China to actively help reduce the impact of global warming on the environment. Siemens joins hands with Zhejiang TV and Hangzhou Civilization Office to launch "Environmental Care Campaign" in Hangzhou to call on environmental awareness

Today, the one-month "Environmental Care Campaign" draws its curtain in Hangzhou at a closing awarding ceremony and press conference. The campaign is jointly launched by Siemens, Zhejiang TV Station and Hangzhou Civilization Office to encourage people to use environmentally-friendly cotton bag instead of plastic bag in daily life. Local kids are also invited to join a painting competition for the cotton bag design. (October 2007)

Corporate Citizenship Program "Enlightening the Future" celebrates its 5th anniversary

Siemens launched "Enlightening the Future 2006" program in Guangdong. 55 Siemens volunteers together with 3 teenagers from Xikeng village helped by previous Enlightening the Future projects arrived in Lianhe Village, Boluo county to set up the first PC-lab, the first library of the village and provide training of basic PC skills, English and science for local teachers and children. This year the program also celebrated its 5th anniversary. (September 2006) 

 
 

Environmental protection fostered

In order to clear hazardous waste and protect the environment, Siemens launched an initiative to collect used toner and ink cartridges as well as batteries in its working sites in China. The collected waste would then be centrally disposed of through a certified disposal service company for safety and environmental protection purpose. (July 2006)
